ADA Compliance
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 and 2010 prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including schools, jobs transportation, plus all public and private places that are open to the general public.
In regards to sidewalks and parking lots, this federal law has very specific requirements to ensure accommodations are met, including parking space markings, sidewalks, signs and the quantity of spaces.
Additionally, states and municipalities have the ability to add their own requirements to the law; usually this comes in the form of signage and pavement markings.
